Wiccan Sabbat Incense Recipes: Imbolc

Posted by

Red SandalwoodImbolc is also called Candlemass. It was originally celebrated on February 2nd or thereabouts. Imbolc is a Greater Sabbat Day, and marks the beginning of Spring, which reaches its height on Ostara at the Spring Equinox. Imbolc is one of the four Fire Festivals that marked the Celtic calendar.

This Wiccan Sabbat incense recipe is to be compounded on the day of the Sabbat, preferably in circle. Pound the ingredients together into a rough form or a good powder, depending upon your preference. Consecrate your incense before use, if desired. Focus your will and intent. Store the result in a dark jar, sealed tight. Store somewhere dry.

From Scott Cunningham:

Frankincense: 3 parts
Dragon's Blood: 2 parts
Red Sandalwood: 1/2 part
Cinnamon: 1 part
Red Wine: a few drops

From Keith Morgan:

Wormwood: 5 parts (This seems like too much wormwood to us)
Cinnamon: 4 parts
Goldenrod: 2 parts
Acacia Gum: 3 parts
Musk Oil: 10ml per 8oz of above mixture
