Apollo is the famous and beautiful Greek God of music, poetry, healing, purification, prophecy and divination. Son of Zeus and Leto, Apollo is always pictured in his beardless youthful prime, often holding the musical lyre or his bow. His songs can heal and his bow can lay waste to armies with disease. His music is cultured and well-ordered, as opposed to the ecstatic drumming of Dionysus and Cybele.
His sacred plant is the Laurel, and laurel leaf crowns were often given as prizes in games and contests, symbolic of Apollo's favor.
White marble resin statue. 11 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. |
