The Archangel Michael is one of the most famous and powerful of all of the angels. His name means something close to "he who is as God" in Hebrew, and he is chief Angel of the Order of Virtues, Chief of the Archangels, and Ruler of the Fourth Heaven.
Some of the earliest records concerning Michael (pronounced mee-khi-el in Hebrew) are from the Chaldeans who worshipped him in an almost God-like fashion. He is a legendary protector and demon-slayer, as well as a teacher of esoteric sciences. Many of the fabled Grimoires of Magick are said to have been delivered by him.
