Mithraic Aeon Statue
8.5 inches tall
Red and black resin
Aeon, the winged, lion-headed deity was by many accounts central to the worship of Mithras in Rome. His body is entwined by the serpent, representative of wisdom, which crests his forehead at the third eye point. On either side of his genitals are astrological symbols of Capricorn and Cancer. Aeon stands upon the globe of the world, and holds the Key and Scroll of Universal Wisdom.
Aeon is the deified eternal being. Aeon was the child of the Virgin Kore (later identified with Proserpine or Persephone) and he was born on December 25th. Competing for popularity against Mithras and Sol Invictus in Rome, the cult of the christian jesus assumed many of the traits of Mithraic Aeon, including the date of birth, being born of a virgin, and the Lion imagery.
This Mithraic Aeon statue stands 8.5 inches tall. It is made of red and black resin.

It's the only reproduction of the Mithraic Aeon (alias Kronos) we can find. It's so rare and so precious ! and the great interest of this statue is the resemblance to the Gnostic Demiurge Ialdabaoth (Saklas, Samael and Ariel "the Lion of God").
Thanks a lot to the manufacturer and of course to Somaluna !!!!!
