Wiccan Sabbat Incense Recipes: Lammas

Lammas is also called Lughnasadh (Loo'-nahs-eh) and August Eve. It was originally celebrated on August 1st or thereabouts. Lammas is a Greater Sabbat Day, and marks the beginning of Fall, which reaches its height on Mabon at the Fall Equinox. Lammas is one of the four Fire Festivals that marked the Celtic calendar, and one of the three Wiccan harvest festivals which include Mabon and Samahin.

This Wiccan Sabbat incense recipe is to be compounded on the day of the Sabbat, preferably in circle. Pound the ingredients together into a rough form or a good powder, depending upon your preference. Consecrate your incense before use, if desired. Focus your will and intent. Store the result in a dark jar, sealed tight. Store somewhere dry.

Heather: 1 part
Apple blossoms: 1 part
Blackberry leaves: 1 pinch
Ambergris Oil: a few drops

Oregano: 1/2 part
Cinnamon: 1/2 part
Meadowsweet: 1/2 part
Frankincense: 1/4 part
Sandalwood: 1/2 part

Chamomile: 3 parts
Goldenrod: 5 parts
Carnation Oil: 10ml per 8oz of above mixture
Rose Oil: 10ml per 8oz of above mixture
