Frankincense is similar to Olibanum, but is usually differentiated from it by a distinct lemon aroma, as opposed to the Olibanum's orange aroma. Frankincense is called for in many ancient and medieval recipes, and is the most commonly found ingredient in incense blends. The Kohl substance that ancient Egyptian women used to darken the area around the eyes with was made of charred Frankincense or Olibanum sometimes mixed with other resins and herbs.
Frankincense is a bitter, strong smelling and warming herb with nervine, antiseptic, expectorant and decongestant properties. Frankincense is stimulant, but seldom used now internally, though formerly was in great repute . Pliny mentions it as an antidote to hemlock. Avicenna (tenth century) recommends it for tumors, ulcers, vomiting, dysentery and fevers. In China it is used for leprosy.
Maydi Frankincense is a very high grade of Frankincense, with some people preferring it even to Hougari.
This Frankincense is the same as Ethiopian Frankincense Select but in a smaller tear form. For information on the difference between Frankincense and Olibanum please see our Frankincense v.s. Olibanum page.

It is truly the king of all frankincense. My wife smokes it in a charcoal burner and it fills the home with sweet smelling frankincense.

Hands down the nicest frankincense I have ever experienced. Maybe not the smartest choice considering that I purchased it to be a part of a complex compound.

It is a sweet incense; I find it nice, friendly, gentle, with hints of lemon and a little bit as pine-mint.
I recommend using natural charcoal as Bamboocha for good incense like this; the smell is more pure.
By the way, I forgot to say that somaluna I found a very good shop with an incredible amount of fragrances.
About In two weeks my order arrived to Spain.
I think that is very good

I enjoy the Maydi Frankincense during my midday brake. Its a bit of a ritual after lunch. I sit back and relax, place some granules of Maydi on the electric heater, and enjoy the slow release of that bright aroma. A wonderful way to revitalize and begin the second half of the day.
